Annual World Islamic Banking Conference (WIBC 2014) was held at Gulf Convention Centre in the Kingdom of Bahrain on 2nd and 3rd of December. Convened under the patronage of Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister of Bahrain and held with the official support of the Central Bank of Bahrain.
The conference had a wider range of audience, represented by people from all areas related to Islamic finance i.e. banks, leasing companies, regulators, consultants, software vendors etc.
This was SAB’s 3rd attendance at WIBC. WIBC is a major Islamic finance event and most of the institutions were represented in one form or another.
WIBC provides a useful platform to SAB, to promote itself in the Islamic finance industry. Humayun Jamshed and Suhail Yaqub attended the conference.
Humayn Jamshed, Senior Banker for Islamic Finance offering of SAB, spoke on Transformation of Retail Banking and new opportunities in Consumer banking. The comments were well received and lead to a healthy Q&A session.
WIBC is a productive event in providing visibility to SAB.
